Why does it seem that a year can just swing by and yet another birthday party is to be organised, but this time it seemed the year was shorter. It went sooo fast!!!

As I love organising any party with an excuse to get friends together for a good time. Of course I had to do it again.

This time an invite to the mountains was sent out. We were to go skiing... well at least I was, then who ever wanted to come I was delighted to include in the party..

So off we went 16 of us all in all. We arrived Friday evening to Hotel du Col on top of the French Pyrenees just across from Andorra. A family owned hotel with plenty of character and stuffed animals from what I guess used to be the common animal and results of hunting grounds.

The French lady Claudine was some what stressed when we arrived and to be honest I thought I better walk away and come back to speak to her later as she was stressing me out and that was the last I wanted on my birthday. My sweet friend Vero took charge of the situation and killed the lady with her charm and all was good.

Next stirring of normality was when I announced to be a non meat eater..which of course I had forgotten to mention when booking the hotel. But again I guess Vero’s charm was stuck now and with a smile and candles in my rice came out with a lovely dish, all from the arm sleeve of the chef, that I caught blinking at me from the kitchen.. so it was only to blink back give a big smile as we all know to keep the chef happy is crucial for a successful weekend.

By midnight everyone had arrived safely, even if one party got lost along the way and took the scenic route, (shame it was dark).

After a good night sleep we all gathered for breakfast and planning the day with blue skies and a ting of cold in the air, to attack the slopes.

This particular resort is very family friendly. The slopes are wide and lots of green and blue runs, but also offering red and black ones.

I spent the first two hours skiing with Zied, age 5. At first I have to admit I regretted saying yes to his mum to hang out with him as his mum had to drive off for a few hours. I thought my only weekend away skiing this year and I have to baby-sit...

Huge presumption and mistake to think that.

At first we did a few runs at the beginners slopes gave him a few hints on how to turn, he turned out to not only be a quick learner but with no fear what so ever.

So we went for the big mountain.

Every time I turned around he was like a tale following right behind. I was more then impressed. WOW!

After a full day on the slopes a red face was inevitable. I think I was classed the most colour full face that evening. We watched England beat the crap out of France in rugby and ended the evening with my new favourite game, charades...

We finished off the weekend on the sun terrace by the slopes while some of the brave hearts got back on their skis to do yet another day of it, while Becky and I soaked in the sun tendering our achy legs... and adding to the colour feast in the face..which now is turning slightly tinged orange haha..?
