Dear Akaza-Blog Reader,
Christmas is coming soon and what would be Christmas without a traditional Christmas market?
In Barcelona you will have the chance to enjoy one:

La Feria de Santa Llúcia
03.12.2010 - 23.12.2010 from 10.30am to 08.30pm
Avenida de la Catedral
This is Barcelona’s Christmas market, with everything you need to get you in a festive mood. It is a very Catalan affair and at weekends it can get very crowded.
The market will take place for the 224th time this year. You will find almost 300 stands divided in 4 sectors:
- Nativity scene and figures
- Greenery and plants
- Crafts (hand made products)
- Instrument’s area
This year the city celebrate the first anniversary of the website where you can find everything you need to simplify your visit to Santa Llúcia and a place where you can find out more about the history of the market, about its artisans, activities, exhibitions of Nativity scenes, photos and much more.
Do not hesitate to check: http://en.firadesantallucia.cat/

The market will include a traditional “Tió” figure (see picture above), parades, and daily traditional Christmas stories. By the way keep your eyes out for the "Cagnares", little figurines defecating which the Catalans traditionally and unbelievably use in their nativity scenes!
Different types of food will be on sale. Mulled wine will also be available for those who wish to add a hot and spicy flavor to “cold” December evenings. Many performers and other activities are available throughout the market, but change day by day.

It only remains for us to add: Enjoy the anticipation to Christmas!

Barcelona
