Sant Pere is the North East corner of the very fashionable and beautiful Ciutudat Vella. Mostly undiscovered by tourists so far, it is still lived in by born and bred Sant Pere locals.

From the 12th century onwards the old town was the centre of trade and the favourite residential area of the merchant elite (the merchants’ grand gothic mansions can be seen along Carrer Montcada). Our apartments in this area are superbly situated right in its centre, two minutes walk through the constantly changing and very narrow streets will take you in one direction to La Parc Ciutadella, to La Palau de la Musica in another, or the new Mercat de Santa Catarina in a third. Surrounded by perfect little cafes, bars and restaurants there’s plenty to do, see or eat whichever way you go.

Sheltered from the hen-party mania that many areas are subjected to in the centre of Barcelona, Sant Pere is like Shoreditch to the Born’s Covent Garden, complete with genuine Banksy grafitti, authentic Spanish mullets and still quite reasonable prices.

Born, just to the south, is home to many good boutiques and even more bars and restaurants, while further south still you hit Barceloneta, and then the beaches. Head west from the flat and you hit Barri Gotic, the main ‘old town’ and the noisiest, rowdiest area to be at night (very roughly the equivalent of Soho).

If you can’t decide, just turn left out of the front door and head to the end of the street where you’ll find Placa Sant Pere. The prettiest square for miles where you can eat a delicious menu del dia in Candela while you chose how best to spend the rest of your lovely sunny day.
