Parking in Barcelona is not an easy matter. Therefor we at Akaza would not recommend anyone coming to Barcelona, with the intention of staying in Barcelona to rent a car. The parking is a nightmare and very expensive.
Barcelona public transport is excellent and very easy to get around.
You can rent a bike which is a great way to see our beautiful city.
If not the taxis are fairly inexpensive as well.
To park in the streets in the city centre for free is practically impossible and the tow aways are there before you locked the car door..
But if you are travelling with a car and need to park keep in mind that most street parking is for residents, so we strongly recommend you to park the car in a car park
If you are not going to use the car during your stay in Barcelona and leaving it for a few days you might want to park in the Parking under the Forum

For up to 8 days you only pay 45 € which can be purchased directly at the car park. However note if you remove the car from the car park your parking is up and you will have to pay again
The B:SM Forum car park has good public transport from there.
