This flat has been charmingly restored as closely as possible to how it would have been 120 years ago (but including all modern conveniences!). The original layout; floor tiling, windows, doors and wrought iron balcony railings have all been retained. It is situated on the second floor of the building in a pedestrian street in the heart of the old port area Barceloneta, and the balcony offers a view of both the street and the main market square. The flat is just a six minute walk from the Cathedral and the Gothic Quarter, and a four minute walk from the beach. The waterfront, pier and yachting port are at a one minute walk. The whole area is full of excellent seafood restaurants, ranging from some of the most exclusive in Barcelona to tiny bars that offer the best fried fish in town for very little money. The flat itself is small (35 square meters), but has two bedrooms: one with a comfortable double bed which can be converted into twins and the other with one single bed, with a pull out below. The living room has a fully equipped kitchen area and access to the balcony, which runs the length of the flat. There is one small bathroom with a very small shower.

The winter has come down on Barcelona as well and this is the right time to use the opportunity of snow activities.
The most popular thing to do among people who live in Barcelona is to go to the nearest ski resort "La Molina" which is only a two-hour drive away from the very centre of Barcelona. The resort offers a possibility of ski rentals; has a complete snow-park equipped with modules, railings and ramps and moreover; in 2011 La Molina is scheduled to host the World Snowboarding Championship.
There is also a great opportunity to buy a one day "Skitren" train package, which includes a round way train ticket to La Molina, transport to the ski-slopes by bus, and a 1 day ski-pass. The cost is 41.50€ for adults and 31.50€ for children. You can buy the "Skitren La Molina" ticket at all Renfe railway stations in Barcelona, for example at stations like Catalunya, Passeig de Gracia, Sants and etc.

Other chance for a precious ski-getaway is a worthy trip to Andorra. Besides the tax-free shopping, you can enjoy more than 300 km of slopes. Situated between France and Spain, Andorra provides an excellent alternative for a ski holiday away from the busier slopes of France. With good skiing and a lively apre ski, Andorra has something for everyone. The price of a one-day ski-pass is around 30€ to 35€ depending on the resort.

If you are a Flamenco fan, we would like to recommend a tiny place in Gracia named "Shhhh que no se lo diga a nadie" which is open from Thursday to Sunday from 16.00 to 24.00 and is located in the beautiful neighbourhood of Gracia. Besides offering the traditional tapas meals, this local little bar offers Flamenco nights every Sunday at 20.30 and it's a true life-time experience. Since it's very local, the atmosphere is very chilled, it's free of any charge, you just have to order something to drink or eat. Their patatas bravas are very delicious and very filling. It's really worth going and seeing the performance, the guitarist and both singers and dancers are amazing! Just make sure you make a reservation in advance!
Barcelona Carnaval 2010
Also February is a month of carnivals and Barcelona hosts one too. Starting February 11ththe general theme of a carnival is to eat, drink, dance and have a great time. In Spain the festivities start on Thursday when you start to stuff yourself during carnival in preparation for the fasting period of Lent, which begins after the carnival officially ends. The main character is Rei Carnestoltes, which means The Carnival King or Rey Carnaval in Spanish.
His symbolic role is to carry all the sins of power, and take responsibility for all the bad things that occurred throughout the year. On the last day of carnival, the carnival kings will is read out in public, he is condemned and he is burnt, signalling the beginning of abig feast. His sad death marks the end of the carnival with funeral corteges complete with grieving widows in black and other events in his honour all over the city.
