This month we have welcomed Andréa back at the Akaza office. After a four month India she returned to pick up where she left in December, but not only where she left. She came back from India full of energy and with a lot of new ideas to expand her services. There are a lot of changes up and coming for Akaza and its team so this is going to be a promising time for all of us. Farewell

This month we had to say goodbye to one of our colleagues as well. During Andréa´s stay in India her good friend Patrícia has worked at Akaza Service Agency. Mid may, Patrícia returned to Portugal to finish her mathematics master thesis. We thank her for the work she has done here in Barcelona and wish her all the success and inspiration to write a great thesis.

Must-See in May

Primavera Sound Festival 28 - 31 May, 2009.

Barcelona. Every year the festival attracts an enormous number of festival lovers who come to town to dance three full days and enjoy the music and the weather. The festival hosts indie rock bands, DJs and experimental musicians.

This years´ line up includes My Bloody Valentine, Spiritualized, Damien Jurado, Gang Gang Dance and Alela Diane. The Primavera Sound Festival will take place at Parc del Fòrum. Tickets available now!

Barcelona Poetry Week 21 -27 May, 2009

At the end of May Barcelona will celebrate the written word during ´Barcelona Poetry´. There are series of events and workshops organized all dedicated to poetry. Bus windows and tube carriages are covered in verse, while poetry readings, lectures and workshops take place across the city.

The readings, lectures and workshops are usually hosted by venues such as the Botanical Gardens, MACBA, the Palau de la Música Catalana and the Museum of Natural Science. In previous years the Barcelona Poetry Week has welcomed some honorable guests, for example Angels Gregori from Valencia, Ferhat Mehmenni from Algeria, Linton Kwesi Johnson from Jamaica and Francisco Segovia from Mexico.

Concerts by Danish Choir 21 - 23 May, 2009

This month a Danish choir will visit Barcelona, three night in a row they will give concerts at different locations. Starting on Thursday the 21st of May. Down below you will find the programme and the corresponding locations.

Thursday, May 21: Open air concert at Plaza Reial, 20.00h.

Friday, May 22: Concert in a Church at Plaza de Sant Pere , 20.00h.

Saturday, May 23: Concert in a Church at Lourdes, 20.00h. The address is: Carrer de Mare de Déu del Remei, 38.

Coming up in June

The Sónar Festival will turn Barcelona into one big music spectacle with thousands of festival lovers who come to enjoy the music and the ambiance. Barcelona welcomed more than eighty thousand visitiors for last years´ edition. Sonar 2009 is Barcelona´s festival of advanced music and multimedia arts, the festival wil take place on the 18th,19th and 20th of June. Sónar festival will take place in several venues like the CCCB (Centre of Contemporary Culture) and the MACBA museum.
