Just south of Barcelona lie the green valleys and rolling hills of the world renowned Penedès, Spain wine region, the perfect place for a small group day escape side trip.
Known as “cava country” due to being the biggest and best producer of Cava (Spanish champagne), this Spanish wine region boasts many notable red and white wines, as well. The hills of Alt Penedes are our destination for this wine excursion, where we enjoy exclusive visits to the vineyards and cellars of small wine and cava makers producing the most innovative and high quality wines in the Penedes wine country.

After a short drive from Barcelona, we arrive to the Penedès wine country where we are joined by a resident wine maker for a private tour of his fields and facilities, and most importantly a generous and varied cava and wine tasting in his wine cellar.
Between his explanations and your questions, you’ll learn all you’ve ever wanted to know about Spanish (Catalan) wine and cava elaboration methods of the past and present. In the wine cellar among the oak barrels and aging bottles of product, you’ll enjoy a generous tasting of wines and reserve cavas, accompanied by a wonderful catered lunch or dinner of Catalan cuisine.
Prior to returning to Barcelona, guests will have the opportunity to personally make a bottle of cava in the old artisan fashion to take home with them. Wine and cava from the hosting wine cellar are available for purchase on this wine trip.
